Use password to reset disk to set a new password
 
After logging in to Windows XP without using the "Welcome Screen" login method. Press the "Ctrl+Alt+Del" key combination, and the "Windows Security" window appears. Click the "Change Password" button in the options, and the Change Password window appears (Figure 1). In this window, back up the current user's password, click the "Backup" button in the lower left corner to activate the "Forgot Password Wizard", and follow the prompts to create a password reset disk.
If you enter the wrong password in the Windows XP login window, the "Login failed" window will pop up. If you really can't remember what your password is, you can click the "Reset" button to start the Password Reset Wizard, reset the disk through the password you just created, reset the password, and log in to Windows XP.
 
 
How to create a password reset disk
Prepare a blank, formatted floppy disk. To create a password reset disk for your local user account, use one of the following methods.
Using a computer administrator account
If you are logging in to your computer using an administrator account, follow these steps to create a password reset disk for a user account:
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click User Account.
In the User Accounts pane, click the account you want to use.
Under related tasks, click Block a Forgotten Password to start the Forgot Password Wizard, and then click Next.
Insert a blank, formatted disk into drive A and click Next.
In the Current User Account Password box, type the password for the user account you selected in step 3, and then click Next.
Note: If this user account does not have a password, please do not type a password in the "Current User Account Password" box.
The Forgot Password Wizard will start creating a password reset disk.
When the progress bar reaches "100% Complete", click Next, and then click Finish.
Remove the password and label it. Place the floppy disk in a safe place.
 
 
Advantages: Security, it is important for encrypting data with EFS.
Disadvantages: Floppy disk is required, and it is required to establish a password reset disk when setting a password. There is no way for machines without a floppy drive.
