Win2000 Operation Skills Concentration Camp

So far, Win2000 has been released for some time. Although many ordinary users are discouraged due to its poor compatibility and high-demand hardware environment, the Win2000 operating system has attracted a large number of professionals and enterprise users with its powerful network management functions, high stability and good user interface. The author also often uses it, and when using it, he often encounters problems of one kind or another and cannot understand them, so he took many detours when operating it. In order to make it easier and faster for everyone to operate Win2000, the author will introduce his experience in practical operations to everyone below to help everyone quickly build the Win2000 operating system.

1. Send and receive faxes in Win2000
First, install a fax-enabled modem according to normal requirements; after installing the modem, the modem you use will appear in the lower right corner of the taskbar. Since by default, the fax machine of Win 2000 only sends but does not receive faxes, if we want it to automatically receive faxes, we must right-click on your modem name and select "Receive" in the pop-up menu; in addition, the computer sends faxes through the "Print" function, which is the same for images or text. Therefore, we can enter the fax content in Word or other editors, then select the "File/Print" menu, select "Fax" and then click the "Print" button, the "Fax Send Wizard" appears, click "Next", enter the recipient's name and phone number, and then select "Send now" or "Send regularly" according to your actual situation.

2. Use the "My Pictures" folder
Win2000 is very convenient to implement desktop wallpaper function. Not only can the image files under the installation directory Winnt be used as wallpaper, but the image files under the Winnt\Web\Wallpaper directory will also be automatically added to the background image list in the Background tab of the "Show Properties" dialog box. Win2000 also created a "My Pictures" folder in "My Documents". If you want to use your favorite image as wallpaper, just put the selected image into the "My Pictures" folder and in the "Show Properties" dialog box of Win2000, you can directly select the pictures in the "My Pictures" folder as desktop wallpaper.

3. Cancel the startup mode list
When Win2000 starts, a list will appear, including Win2000 Professional and MS-DOS (if you upgrade and install Win2000 on Win9x, there will be an option for the previous operating system here), and unless the Enter key is pressed, the system will wait 30 seconds before starting Win2000, which is really time-consuming and laborious. However, we can cancel this list by: open the "System Features" dialog box, under the "Advanced" tab, click the "Startup and Failure Recovery." button, and then you will see a "System Startup" list, select an operating system you want to enter directly, such as "Win2000 Professional", and then change the list display time to "0" seconds or directly cancel the "Show operating system list" check box.

4. Encrypt files or folders
Using Win2000's encryption tool, you can protect files and folders to prevent others from peeking. The method is to right-click the file or folder you want to encrypt in Win Explorer, and then click Properties. Click Advanced on the General tab and select the Encrypt content to keep data secure check box.

5. Quickly start the computer
Every time we restart the computer, the computer needs to detect the system and hardware, which takes a certain amount of time. In order to be able to restart quickly, we can follow the following steps: click the "Start" button, select "Shut the system", in the pop-up "Close Win dialog box", select "Restart the computer", and then press and hold the Shift key and click the "Yes" button, so that the detection of the system and hardware can be skipped, thereby achieving the purpose of quickly restarting the computer.

6. Quickly close all applications
We can quickly close all applications without restarting or shutting down Win. First click "Shut System" in "Start", select "Close all programs to log in as different users", and then log in again.

7. Add online content to desktop
You can get images from the Internet and add them to your desktop, or add items from the "Active Desktop Library" on the desktop, such as stock market boards, scrolling news, entertainment links, or weather forecast information. You just need to right-click an empty area on the desktop, point to "Active Desktop", click "New Desktop Project", and then follow the prompts on the screen to complete the above.

8. Let the system log in automatically
Even if you use it alone and don't have any damn LAN, every time you log in to Win 2000, you have to press the "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" button first and then type the username and password. It's really annoying. It's best to let it log in automatically. The method is: open the "System Features" dialog box, under the "Network Identification" tab, click the "Change." button, and then follow the "Network Identification Wizard". However, when setting it, be careful: be sure to select "Name is for home, not part of the business network" and "Win always assumes the following users are logged in to the machine", otherwise automatic login cannot be achieved (of course, if you claim to be a master, this can also be achieved by modifying the registry: in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Win NT \ CurrentVersion \ In the Winlogon location, change the value of "AutoAdminLogon" to "1", change the value of "DefaultDomainName" to the domain name or local computer name to be logged in, change the value of "DefaultUserName" to the username that is automatically logged in, and change the value of "DefaultPassword" to the password you set. Note: These are all string values). If you want to temporarily cancel the automatic login or need to log in with another username, just hold down the Shift key when starting.

9. Quick operation in the "Run" dialog box
1. To enter the disk where the Win directory is located, just enter "\" in the "Start/Run" dialog box and click the "OK" button.
2. Enter "" in the "Start/Run" dialog box, click the "OK" button, and you can enter the folder where Win2000 is located.

4. Want to know the extension of a file or the full path of the folder where it is located? You can use the right mouse button to directly drag the file into the "Start/Run" dialog box, and the extension and full path of the file will be displayed.

10. Speed up startup and reduce failure recovery time
Users can completely reduce the time when the Win 2000 operating system is started. If you are a loyal Win 2000 operating system user, the author suggests that you can set the startup waiting time to 5 seconds. If you are not a network system administrator, you can completely remove the above options "Write events to system log" and "Issue management alerts" and set "Write debug information" to "None".

11. Quickly copy files
If we want to achieve the purpose of quickly copying files and folders through keyboard operations, we just need to follow the following operations: First, select the source file or folder with the mouse, then press and hold the Ctrl key, then hold the left mouse button and drag the source file or folder to the target folder, and then copy the source file or folder to the target file or folder to the target file.
