Two days ago, Microsoft announced the release of Windows Server 2003 SP1 to manufacturers, but did not provide download links to the majority of users. Today, Microsoft finally provides an official download.
There are three reasons why Windows Server 2003 SP1 is worth installing:
Server 2003 SP1 is a separate service package that provides important security enhancement tools to improve system reliability and improve system performance.
2. It contains a large number of critical update programs, which can fix additional core security issues; it is accompanied by powerful default settings, which reduces usage permissions, which can better protect the system and reduce the threat of users to attack.
3. With the help of SP1, the development team can identify many security problems and find out the root cause of the problems. SP1 also helps classify security vulnerabilities, which is particularly important.
In addition, Microsoft announced that Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack 1 will be released within 60 days. As for the Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition that have been released to manufacturers two days ago, they will be fully released at the end of April (25th to 27th).
Note: Microsoft plans to use Windows Server 2003 SP1 as a high priority update package in July 2005 and will be released on Automatic Updates (AU). Therefore, now, we cannot use AU to download SP1.
