Easily clear fiber dialing settings faults under XP

Fiber access broadband is faster and more stable than ADSL, so many friends now choose fiber access when installing broadband. However, when I installed the FTTB dialer under Windows XP, I encountered problems:

Cause of the failure

In Windows XP, follow the operation steps under Windows 98, enter the user name and password after installing the FTTB dedicated dialer program, and the system requires restart. After restarting the system, double-clicking the dialer program, strangely, it requires the author to establish a new connection again. In the past, under Windows 98, you can dial up and access the Internet directly. Make a connection again, still.

Fault Analysis

Since the system prompted that some files could not pass Microsoft's verification when installing the FTTB dialer program, and asked the author whether to continue. At that time, the author chose "Yes". Therefore, I suspect that the dialing program provided by Telecom does not support Windows XP. The author downloaded the latest version of the dialing program, but the failure remains the same. Could it be that there is a problem with the network card installation or setting? In the device manager, the author did not see any exclamation marks or conflicts, and the network card was correctly identified. Then I opened the online neighbors and found that in addition to the original "local connection", there are two more "dial-up connections" marked with red crosses among the online neighbors. These two connections were established by the author, and the incorrect connections both display the message "Dial-up connection is disabled due to the network cable being unplugged or not being properly connected". However, the author did not plug and unplug the network cable before installing Windows XP. Why did this prompt appear?

troubleshooting

The author finally turned to China Telecom and the problem was solved. There is no need to install any FTTB dedicated dialing program in Windows XP. Just use the dialing connection provided by Windows XP. If the FTTB dialing program is installed, the problems I encountered will occur. The specific operation method is as follows: Click "Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → New Connection Wizard", enter the New Connection Wizard interface, select "Connect to the Internet → Manually set my connection → Connect with a broadband connection requiring a username and password", enter any ISP name, such as FTTB, and then click "Next" to enter the username and password. After completion, double-click the FTTB connection icon in the online neighbors to access the Internet. Through this method, we can also be connected to the Internet as soon as we turn on the computer, so that we don’t need to dial up every time we go online.
