Quickly restore Ghost custom "worry-free system"

1. The purpose of writing this article

Friends in our forum always post to ask if they were poisoned, hacked, or installed some software or made wrong system settings and made strange mistakes in the system, and they were afraid of reinstalling the system. The system restore function is also flawed (some *s and viruses are hidden in the folders of the system restore point). I have summarized a relatively "fun-saving" plan from my practical work experience. Even if you get hit, you can recover within 2-3 minutes.

2. Brief explanation

1. I personally think this post falls under the category of "solution", so I posted it in this area.

2. Some friends said that Ghost is prone to problems. I can tell you that there is no problem if you build your own system and then use it for your own use only. (Recommended version: symantec ghost 8.2)

3. This article involves many details, almost all of which are summary of experience.

3. Steps

The solution is mainly divided into three steps: (for convenience, it is called Ghost 1, Ghost 2, and Ghost 3 respectively)

To speak with practical experience, three steps are the best solution. If there are too many steps, the more space the gho file takes up; if there are too few steps, you have to start everything over again, and the more time it takes. The details are as follows:

Ghost1 Make a "regret medicine"

Unplug the network cable (important), Format must install the system partition, install the system, and set up the account name and password.

Then don’t change any system options, no software is installed, and no driver is installed. Make a GHOST image and save as. (If you don’t know how to use the GHOST software, go to baidu or google it first)

The principle of this step: pure. It can be called a "regret medicine". Even if there is a problem in any part below, you can Ghost the situation where the system has just been installed in a few minutes, and you don't have to spend dozens of minutes to reinstall the system (living around like a year).

Ghost2 Set up the system

1. Install the driver, try to use the original driver, and it is best to download it from the official website.

2. Install the input method. If you like Pinyin, please download Microsoft Pinyin 2003 on the official Microsoft website. Don’t worry. If you use Wubi or other input methods, you should pay attention, because there is a more useful Wubi installation package that seems to have to change the IE homepage, and there is also adware hidden in it. These non-Microsoft installation packages should be installed after the "worry-free system" is completed.

3. Adjust desktop themes, as well as desktop and taskbar icons, start menu style, etc.

4. Adjust folder options, including whether to display hidden files, whether to use simple sharing, whether to automatically detect network folders and printers, etc.

5. Adjust the virtual memory and set it according to your own needs. Those who play big games can set it a little larger, otherwise you can have a little less.

6. Modify the location of the special folders of the system. I usually place IE favorites and my documents under other disks, so that even if there is a problem with the system, I will not lose favorites and things in "My Documents".

7. Modify the storage location of OUTLOOK's email folder and import the previously stored email account.

8. Import some REG files for optimization. This includes turning off the doctors that come with XP, displaying verification codes, solving garbled code problems (Microsoft has patched them), forbidding MSN to start with Outlook, immunity of common IE junk plug-ins, removing default sharing, etc.

9. Modify network-related and import policy packages. Including IP, gateway, etc.

10. Adjust system services. It should be noted here that now is just a preliminary adjustment. Don’t move services that you are not very clear about, and kill the services that are obviously to be disabled. For example, for me, both "Wireless Zero Configuration" and "Remote Registry" must be disabled.

11. Get the online update patch for the system saved in advance. In order to facilitate daily maintenance, you can download the patch package in advance, or use special software to find system patches.

12. Organize the disk where XP is located.

13. Use vfloppy to make a DOS boot menu. vfloppy is a virtual boot floppy program (all major software stations have free downloads), which means you can select the menu when booting to achieve the effect of booting with floppy disk. This is the only third-party software used in the second step.

Restart a few times to see if there are any problems, then restart it, select the virtual floppy disk made with vfloppy to boot into dos, enter the directory of the GHOST program, do GHOST image, and save as. (GHOST recommends using symantec after 8.0, version 8.2 is very useful and fast)

This step of principle: no third-party procedures are used. The advantage is that if the software in Ghost 3 comes out a new version but is not uninstalled cleanly, you can make a new Ghost 3 based on Ghost 2.

Ghost3 installs common programs

Now you can rest assured, even if the following is apart from the problem, you can get it back from the same.

Start installing third-party programs.

It is strongly recommended not to install antivirus software in this step, because you can try various antivirus software and firewalls after doing GHO. If you want to replace it, you can't uninstall it (many heavyweight antivirus software cannot be uninstalled). Then GHOST comes back, which is very convenient. This makes it easier for you to choose a set of antivirus software and firewalls that suit you.

Of course, if you fall in love with a certain SAR and are willing to follow him, then you can pretend and leave it to the last step of Ghost 3 to pretend.

I installed the following programs in one go (some software that is often used):

(The following software is recommended to be installed under the disk where the system is located)

MSOffice series, winrar, realplayer10, Alcohol 120% 1.9.5, Adobe Reader

(The following software should not be installed on the disk where the system is located, because you can use it by importing your own registration information)

Kingsoft series, Macromedia series, AutoCAD, Maxthon, Winamp, flashget1.65, Bitcomet, msn

If you have to install some other software, please do it yourself. If you have to install software like Windows Optimizer, leave it until you finish it (I guess you have heard of the saying "malicious code". The original author also said, "If you believe it, there will be it, if you don't believe it, there will be nothing." If you have to use it, you still have to use the genuine version).

Restart a few more times, observe, and see if there are any major errors in the event viewer. If there is no problem, restart the virtual floppy disk boot to DOS and do it.

The principle of this step: only install software with good reputation and safe reputation.

Now you can plug in the Internet cable and enjoy it, go wherever you want.

But don't be too careless, not everything can be ignored. Think about it, if someone tied an unusual * (that is, a * that cannot be found in most antivirus software) to other disk applications, such as the games you often play, you will probably be poisoned for life, because the antivirus software cannot be found, and you find that there are any doubts about using Ghost and it is useless to come back. You will be hit again when you play the game, which is very miserable. In addition, it will be even more painful to encounter viruses that damage hardware (such as CIH variants).

Therefore, we still need to make a firewall, after all, there are many "quasi-hackers" now. Although individual users usually pay attention, there are still some poisoned machines that are desperately connected to you, especially in a LAN environment, so antivirus software must also be installed.

4. Summary

These three files can meet your needs:

1. If you want to come back, start working immediately.

2. If you want to remove some software installed in Ghost3, but don’t let the spam message stay in your system, use it,

3. If you find something wrong with doing Ghost2 during the trial, you should start over and use

5. Details that must be mentioned

1. The software mentioned in the article: Please download it to the hard disk first, and decompress it, place it in a non-system partition, and do not place it in an NTFS partition (DOS generally cannot find the NTFS partition).

2. Ghost8.2: There is no need to load when using this version, because I learned from practice that it is much faster than loading if it is not loaded. (Generally speaking, it is loaded when the win98 startup disc is booted, and the virtual startup made with the startup image provided by the vfloppy package is not loaded)

3. vfloppy: This is the only third-party software that is applicable in the second step. Please make sure that the files you download are not poisonous. In addition, you cannot organize the disk after doing the vfloppy menu, otherwise you cannot virtually boot to DOS, and you need to do it again.

4. System Service: There are many "tutorials" on this aspect on the Internet. I have read some of them, and some are written very irresponsible, so you should pay attention to discernment.

5. Backup: Before starting, prepare the relevant files mentioned in the article first, and then back up the main boot record and partition-related information of the hard disk (generally there are such tools on the boot disk). It is best to place the backup files in the email box instead of on the hard disk (why do you understand after thinking about it, I won’t talk about it).

6. Make sure the hard disk has about 2-3G space to store *.gho files.
