Engine: WS-SUP720-3B one piece of main and backup
Line card: WS-X6148X2-45AF five pieces.
Cisco CompactFlash Memory Card, 128 MB 2 blocks.
The device was originally in cisco ios mode, but because IOS did not support WS-X6148X2-45AF line card at that time, it adopted CatOS mode to support the above line card. Later, Cisco launched the supported IOS version s72033-adviservicesk9_wan-mz., and the customer asked to change it to the IOS version again. These two CompactFlash Memory Cards were formatted in the original IOS mode, and can be written in both modes (catos and IOS) during this upgrade process. The following is the upgrade process:
1. First unplug the backup engine (supports hot plug), and copy the IOS image file into the CompactFlash Memory Card under catOS. Because the IOS size is more than 70 megabytes, it is not reliable to use TFTP to transmit, so use FTP to transmit, enter set ftp username; set ftp password Set the FTP username and password to call. implement:

2. Check the current switch startup variable. The register value is 0x2102, and the next step will be to modify this value to 0x0

3. Modify the register value to 0x0

4. Confirm that this value has been modified and reset.

5. The system restarts and enters ROMMON mode. Enter SET to view environment variables.

10. This step is an optional step to verify whether the flash memory card can be written. If it can be written, it does not need to be formatted again. Smaller IOS files can be used to write IOS files to disk0 using TFTP protocol. During this conversion, I found that I could write it, so I did not reformat the flash memory card, which also eliminated the step of transmitting the IOS again.
11. Modify the startup parameters. Next time you start the switch, use the IOS image in disk0 to start it directly. save
Router(config)#boot system flash disk0:s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.

12. Display the register value of the switching processor. Since we modify the register value of the switching processor to 0x0 in catos mode, we must finally modify it back to 0x2102.

At this point, the main engine has been converted. Turn off the power, unplug the main engine, plug it into the backup engine, and repeat the above to convert it. After the backup engine is converted successfully, the main engine can be inserted directly. At this time, the backup engine is in the active state, and the main engine is in the hot standby state. After the main engine is fully started, the backup engine can be plugged and unplugged once, which will restore it to the main active standby.
In this version, the redundancy mode is SSO mode, so the ping package is not lost when plugging and unplugging any engine.
