Protect yourself and prevent Internet cafes from leaking secrets

Will it be leaked when surfing the Internet in an Internet cafe? Yes! When opening files, entering various passwords, or chatting with friends on QQ, you will leave traces on the machine, thus revealing personal secrets. For safety reasons, break through the Internet ban to protect yourself, and you should erase these traces when you leave.

1. Start menu leak

In the Windows Start menu, there will be records of the most recent accessed files. When you leave the Internet cafe, others can open the files you have recently viewed by clicking "Start → Documents", so remember to clear them after operating the documents.

Solution Click "Start" → "Settings" → "Taskbar and Start Menu" → "Start Menu Program" in Windows, and click the "Clear" key in the "Document Menu" item. If you only want to delete the documents you have read, you can enter the C:windowsrecent folder and delete them in turn.

2. Microsoft's Office software leaks

If you have edited important files in an Internet cafe using Microsoft's Office software, you should be careful, because the Office software lists recently opened files in the "File" menu, which others can easily see and even copy and take away!

The solution takes Word as an example. The specific method is to select "Tools" → "Options" → "General" in Word, and remove the "tick" mark before the check box "List the number of recent files used".

3. Recycling bin leaks

Win9X/ME has a feature that often does not really delete the file, but transfer it to the recycling bin, and the files in the recycling bin can be recovered! "People with a lot of heart" can... Therefore, you must clear the recycling bin in time after use!

Solution: Open the recycling bin, click "File" → "Empty Recycle bin" or select the file to be deleted, click "File" → "Delete", so that the file will be deleted after the operation.

4. Temporary file leaks

If the files are carefully enough, you will find that there are some temporary files under C:win-dowstemp on your computer. These temporary files are generated when installing or running certain software. They cannot be deleted in time due to some reason (such as the software itself or a sudden power outage, etc.). These temporary files occupy at most some hard disk space on personal computers, and there are no hidden dangers, but they are different in Internet cafes. Others can understand your preferences by checking these files and guess what you have done before.

Solution: After closing all running software programs, enter c:windowstemp and delete the files inside. Note: Some temporary files may not be deleted, so restart them again and try it!

5. Browse URL (Url) leak

To facilitate users, Windows 98 has a history recording function, which can record various previous operations of users one by one (such as running programs, browsing websites, searched content, etc.). But everything has two aspects, and historical records also bring the possibility of leaks. Some people will use these records to get information about the web pages you have visited to peek at your preferences.

Solution: Click "Tools" → "Inter-net Options" → "General" in the browser, and then click the "Clear History" button in the "History" item. Or start Regedit, registry editor, and expand to HKEY-CURRENT-USERSoftwaremicrosoft Internet ExplorerType-dURLs key value, which is specifically used to save IE history. Why are you still standing there? Delete them quickly! In addition, when entering the URL, press the Ctrl+0 (letter O) key combination, fill in the name or IP address of the website you want to visit in the pop-up window, and the URL you entered will not be saved in the address bar.
