Recently, due to the adjustment of the city's education metropolitan area network network structure, the computer IP address of our school has been re-divided. After completion, a problem arises: the teacher computer and student functions can access the Internet normally, and the gateway server can only log in to the website of the Municipal Education Commission and other school websites of the metropolitan area network, and cannot access the Internet. I asked the Municipal Network Center and learned that all schools have this problem temporarily. The reason is that the external network card IP addresses of the gateway servers of each school were not correctly routed to the previous network center (Yantai Education Metropolitan Area Network), and this situation will last for several days.
This problem was nothing, it was just that the gateway server could not be accessed online, which had no effect on the school's computer teaching. Unfortunately, I just reinstalled the gateway server. Although I had the Windows 2000 SP4 patch, the subsequent system patches could not be updated online, and the Rising virus database could not be upgraded, which is undoubtedly very dangerous for a server. To upgrade the server system, the solution is not difficult. One way is to use this server as a temporary client, connect another computer to a network card as a temporary gateway server, and then upgrade online; the other way is to download the patches and virus databases to be downloaded on other computers that can access the Internet, and then copy them to the server for local upgrades. Both methods are troublesome to operate. Is there any better method?
At this time, I thought that since the rest of the computers can access the Internet, can one of the teacher machines be used as a proxy server to allow the gateway server to access the Internet through it? This method seems to not work at first glance. Originally, other computers on the campus network access the Internet through the gateway server. If you change the gateway server network settings, you may not be able to access the Internet. Think about it again, if you only change the gateway server IE settings and the network settings remain unchanged, it might work.
Therefore, the author downloaded and installed the CCProxy proxy software on a teacher machine, and did not make any settings after starting. Then go to the gateway server, open "Control Panel → Internet", click the "Connection" tab, select "LAN Settings", check it before "Using a proxy server for LAN", enter the IP address of the teacher machine below: 10.53.86.200, fill in "808" (CCProxy default proxy port), and then click [OK] (Figure 2). In this way, the IE settings of the gateway server have been modified, and then click "Start → Windows Update" to start the upgrade. OK! The road was smoothly connected to the Microsoft website and completed the system upgrade.
The Windows 2000 patch is installed, and Rising will be upgraded easily. In "Options → Network Settings", click [OK], and then click [Upgrade].
I feel a lot when I recall the problem solving process. The first two are the easiest to think about this problem, but not the best way; the third method will be disturbed by human thinking, that is, in this case, we usually go to the outside (metropolitan network or the Internet) to find a proxy server, but ignore the possibility of finding a proxy from the inside. Faced with various complex situations that may arise in campus network management, we should broaden our thinking and find the optimal solution from various methods to solve the problem.
