58. NT Server is used as the gateway for the Internet
--- [The method of this article is not necessarily feasible. Please make a conclusion after practicing it yourself]
--- If you are a network administrator and you are responsible for the NT network environment of a small enterprise, today when "surfing the Internet" has become a trend, you may encounter the problem of connecting your intranet to the Internet. This article will provide a solution to how to establish local communication and Internet routing.
--- Computers running NT Server 4.0 can not only be used as LAN/LAN routers, but also as gateways for the Internet. Now the only thing you need is a telephone cable, a Modem and a PPP account provided by the ISP. All that is left is the task of configuring the server. The steps to configure the server are as follows:Hot Network
1. Install Modem on NT Server and connect to the telephone line
--- Start NT Server 4.0 and then log in in the Start menu, click Setting, open Control Panel, double-click the Modem icon, and the Install New Modem Wizard will appear. At this time, the user has two choices, one is to manually set the Modem, and the other is to let NT search for one. Since automatic search takes a certain amount of time and the results are sometimes inaccurate, I suggest manually setting the Modem. Check Don't Detect... and click Next. At this time, you will see the Install New Modem window, insert the modem driver disk, enter the path to the disk, click Next, NT will search the disk for the NT-compatible modem driver and display a list of drivers it has found. Please highlight the driver you want to install and click OK to install the driver. In the next window, select the connection port of Modem, click Next, and the last screen appears, click Finish to end the installation. After installation, you need to set the port speed, etc., so I won’t go into details here.
2. Check the original static IP address of the network card and give up the default gateway
--- Open Control Panel, double-click the Network icon and the Network properties worksheet appears. Double-click the TCP/IP Protocol entry to open the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties window, check the Default Gateway column, please do not fill in any IP addresses.
3. Install RAS
--- Open Control Panel, double-click the Network icon, select the Service Properties tab, open the Service Properties worksheet, click Add and the drop-down list appears, which lists the software service programs that can be added to Windows NT. Select the Remote Access Service item, click the Continue button, and the Remote Access Setup window appears after the RAS file is copied to the hard disk. You need to set the COM port, click the Configure button, and you can select 1. Dial out only; 2. Receive calls only; out and Receive Calls After selecting 3, click OK to return to the Remote Access Setup window. After clicking Continue, the RAS Server TCP/IP Configuration window appears. Check Use DHCP to assign remote TCP/IP Client address and click OK to restart the computer to complete the RAS installation.
Four. Establish a connection with the ISP, set the connection to prohibit Use remote gateway
--- Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, find the Dial-Up Networking item, double-click, and the Dial-Up Networking dialog box appears, displaying the New Phonebook Entry Wizard, and fill in the dial name you want to edit in the Name the new phonebook entry column. Generally, for convenience, I use the IP address of the ISP. After clicking Next, the Dial-Up Networking dialog box appears, which displays the following items:
. Phonebook Entry to Dial
. Phone number preview
. Dialing from
--- You will see the name you have edited in the Phonebook Entry to Dial column, and see the phone number you want to dial in the Phone number preview column. Click the More button, and a menu appears. Select Edit entry and modem properties. After clicking, the Edit Phonebook Entry window appears. Select Server column to click. Net appears. work protocol column, check the TCP/IP protocol, click the TCP/IP Settings... button and appear after the PPP TCP/IP Settings window, check the Server assign IP address and Specify name server address, never check Use default gateway on the network, remember! Fill in the IP address corresponding to the ISP in the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS columns, click OK and return to the Edit Phonebook Entry window. Select the Script button and click it, and then select Pop up a terminal Window Click OK to return to the Dial-Up Networking window, click Close, close the window and return to the desktop.
five. Modify the registry (Registry)
--- In the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Service\RASArp\Parameters key, generate the DWORD new value item Disable OtherScrPackets, whose value is 0. Note: The router no longer changes the source IP address when passing an IP packet.
six. Dial to the ISP, and after logging in, find the IP address assigned by the ISP.
seven. Add a route
--- In command status input: route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 metric2
--- There is the IP address assigned by the ISP just found.
eight. Start the workstation and modify the Default gateway addressHot Network
--- The Default gateway address on the workstation is the static IP address of the server network card. At this time, your workstation can already access the external world, and the intranet is connected to the Internet, and the task is done.
