How to protect computer security through Internet access during holidays

The New Year's Day holiday is approaching, and long holidays are often the peak period for people to use computers and surf the Internet, and this period is also a period of high incidence of computer viruses. Rising anti-virus expert Cai Jun reminded that the three most susceptible users to be attacked by computer viruses during the holiday are: users who do not frequently upgrade antivirus software, users who do not patch their operating system, and users who do not turn on antivirus software protection functions on the Internet.

According to data from Rising Global Anti-Virus Monitoring Network, since Christmas, the number of worms and * viruses transmitted through chat software is 30% more than usual. Unlike previous viruses that only infected QQ, there are many viruses that can be transmitted through mainstream Chinese chat software such as MSN, QQ, UC, POPO at the same time, so the transmission and infection speed are very fast.

"In addition, the multi-person conversation mode between the QQ group and MSN may greatly increase the spread of the virus in the future. A QQ group often has dozens of users or even more, which means that as long as one user is infected, these dozens of users will directly face the threat of the virus." Cai Jun said that in the near future, viruses specially written for this multi-person conversation mode are very likely to appear.

Cai Jun analyzed that if good safety habits are developed, the chances of computer poisoning will be greatly reduced, but because many ordinary users do not pay enough attention, this brings opportunities for the virus to rage. For example, during holidays, many users will install a new computer to use for Internet access, but newly installed computers often do not have system patches, and such computers are extremely vulnerable to attacks on the Internet; for example, there are a significant increase in users who chat or play online games during holidays, and they lack awareness of virus prevention, or turn off the monitoring of anti-virus software, or easily open links sent by friends, so that the computer is very easy to get infected with viruses.

So how can users protect their safety when surfing the Internet during holidays?

Rising anti-virus engineers recommend that users: When installing a new computer system, they should pay attention to system patches. Vicious worms such as "oscillation waves" are transmitted through system vulnerabilities. Patching them can prevent such virus infection; users must turn on all monitoring functions of antivirus software when surfing the Internet to prevent virus infection, including file monitoring, email monitoring, web monitoring, memory monitoring, etc. Never turn off certain monitoring functions to reduce resource consumption; when playing online games or using online banking and securities business, you should open a personal firewall. The firewall can isolate the virus from contact with the outside world and prevent * viruses from stealing information. In addition, users should not trust others when chatting.
