Settings of digital CD playback mode in XP system

Since Microsoft sets the CD audio mode of the optical drive by default to digital audio in the Windows XP operating system, if you do not have an analog audio output cable for the optical drive, it is likely that when playing the CD CD in the Windows XP operating system, the sound is only output from the sound card but cannot be output from the audio output hole of the optical drive. If you want to solve this problem, the steps are as follows:

Step 1

Right-click "My Computer", select the "Properties" item in the pop-up menu to open the system properties window; click the "Hardware" tab, click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager window;

Step 2

Open the optical drive child node, right-click the optical drive device, select the "Properties" item in the pop-up menu, and open the optical drive attribute window; click the "Properties" tab to remove the checkmark before the option "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device";

Step 3

Click "Start → Programs → Attachments → Entertainment" with the mouse to open "Windows Media Player". Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options" to open the options window of the media player; click the "Device" tab, select your optical drive device in the device list, and then click the "Properties" button to open the optical drive attribute window;

Step 4

Select "Simulation" in the playback options, and finally click the "OK" button to save and exit and restart the computer.
