In daily computer application process, people often encounter various problems. Some problems are not because our own computers have various problems, but because some settings are inconvenient. Although not a big deal, if you don't know how to modify the settings, the problem is still a headache. Settings are not a disease, but they are deadly annoying. The author has collected some common computer techniques that I think are more representative, hoping to be helpful to everyone.
1. About the "Script Error" prompt.
I often encounter "script error" prompts when surfing the Internet or opening a program, because the browser used by the visitor cannot fully support the scripts on the page. In this case, the system will pop up a script running error warning window. Although it does not affect the browsing of the web page, this warning window is annoying. To completely close the warning window, you can select "Internet Options" in the browser's "Tools" menu, then click the "Advanced" page, and cancel the selected status of the "Prohibit script debugging" check box in "Settings".
2. Let Google search only Chinese web pages by default.
When using Google for search assignments, the search range selected by default is "Search All Websites". In fact, most people do not need to search for websites and web pages in other languages, just search for simplified Chinese web pages. Therefore, after typing the keyword, before clicking the "Google Search" button, you must also click "Search Simplified Chinese Web Page" below, which makes people feel very inconvenient. In fact, there is a way to make Google search only simplified Chinese web pages by default: open the page, then click "User preferences" on the right side of the keyword box, and click "Search only web pages written in the following languages: (multiple choices)" in the following languages. Then click the "Save Preferences" button and then press "OK". When using Google in the future, "Search Simplified Chinese Web Pages" becomes the default option.
3. Remove the Win98 login box.
After Win98 is about to be installed, a user login window will appear after the system restarts. If you enter the password at that time, the login box will pop up every time the computer starts up and let you enter the password. In fact, before changing some key values in the registry, this login box is useless. Anyone can successfully enter the system by pressing the "Esc" key. Therefore, if you are a single user, you can completely remove this login box to speed up your startup speed. Maybe you don’t know how to remove the login box. Every time you turn on the computer, it will bother you. Are you depressed? In fact, as long as this happens, the trouble can be solved immediately. Open the "Control Panel", double-click "Network", select the "Configuration" tab in the "Network" page that appears, change the "Main Network Login" from "Microsoft Network User" to "Windows Login" and press the "OK" button to exit; then go to "Control Panel" to open the "Password", click the "User Profile" tab on the "Password Properties" page, select "All users on this computer use the same preferences and desktop configurations" and press the "OK" button to exit. After the computer restarts, you will see that the system enters the desktop directly.
4. Reduce the disk scanning waiting time.
We know that after an abnormal shutdown, the system will perform disk scanning by default when restarting. In Win98 operating system, disk scanning can be controlled by modifying files. In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems, although disk scanning is automatically performed, it takes more than 10 seconds to wait for the user to make a choice about whether to scan or not before scanning. I think most computer users will scan disks according to the system default. This part of the waiting time seems redundant. If there are more partitions, the time will be longer. In order to reduce the waiting time of disk scanning, we can do this by entering commands at the command prompt. If you want the system to directly scan the disk, just set the disk scan waiting time of the C disk to 0. The method is: at the C: \ prompt, type "chkntfs /t:0" and then press the Enter key (excluding quotes). Similarly, to set the scan waiting time for disks such as D disk, E disk, etc., type "chkntfs /t:0" under their respective drive letters. Where 0 in the command is the number of seconds of waiting time. You can set the length of the waiting time for each partition according to your needs.
5. Reduce the number of scroll bars when powering on.
According to the author's observation, under normal circumstances, when the settings are not modified, the scroll bars scrolled slightly more when the two operating systems of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are turned on. This is also unforgivable for us, computer fans who are cherishing time and are as precious as gold. Just use the text editor to edit the following text file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters]
"VideoInitTime"=dword:0000033c
"EnablePrefetcher"=dword:00000001
"AppLaunchMaxNumPages"=dword:00000fa0
"AppLaunchMaxNumSections"=dword:000000aa
"AppLaunchTimerPeriod"=hex:80,69,67,ff,ff,ff,ff,ff
"BootMaxNumPages"=dword:0001f400
"BootMaxNumSections"=dword:00000ff0
"BootTimerPeriod"=hex:00,f2,d8,f8,ff,ff,ff,ff
"MaxNumActiveTraces"=dword:00000008
"MaxNumSavedTraces"=dword:00000008
"RootDirPath"="Prefetch"
"HostingAppList"=",,"
Then save the text file as a registry file and then import it into the system to reduce the number of scrolling times of the scrollbar (please note that in the above text, there must be an empty line under the first line of Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00). The system will take effect after restarting, and the scroll bar will be reduced to a little more than 1 time.
6. Reduce the size of ghost image file.
Ghosting the system is an important means for us to keep the system intact. However, the ghost image file is relatively large, and for some small hard drive users with a total of 4.3G and divided into three zones, they are nothing short of a fat man. If you want to reduce the size of the ghost image file, before generating the ghost image file, you must delete all files in the Windows \ Temp folder. At the same time, you can also use the system cleaning software to clean up junk files. Before entering the DOS state to make ghost image files, the files in the Windows folder can be deleted for the Win98 operating system; the WinME operating system can delete the _RESTORE folder and its contents under the C drive. When performing ghost operations, choose to use compression to effectively reduce ghost image file volume.
