Have you used the registry checker program Scanreg?

The registry is the lifeblood of Windows. If the registry is damaged, it will cause the program to run errors in the minority, and in severe cases, it will cause the entire system to crash. Therefore, we must frequently check and maintain the registry to ensure the security of the registry. The system provides a more practical registry checker program in Windows, but many users don’t know much about this program. Here is a description of its specific usage.

There are two registry checker programs in Windows, one is used in the Windows Windows interface
The xe program, another program used in DOS mode. Their functions and functions are different.

The program can implement the following functions:

1. Scan to check for registry corruption.

2. Create a registry file backup.

Programs implement more functions than programs. In addition to the above functions, it can also:

1. Fix registry errors and restore registry from the backup registry file.

2. Users can use the corresponding registry checking program according to actual conditions.

Under normal circumstances, when the user installs the Windows system, the system will automatically add the "/autorun" running item to the startup project, that is, when Windows is run for the first time every day, the program will be used to automatically scan and check the registry, and at the same time generate the registry backup file. By default, the program saves the most recent 5 registry backup files, which are saved in the "sysbakup" subdirectory under the Windows installation directory.

If you want to keep several more registry backup files on your computer, or want to modify the backup directory of the registry file, you can do this by modifying the "" file. It is the configuration file of the registry checker program, which saves all the configuration information that the registry checker program needs to use.

Click "Start" - "Run" in Windows, and then type "" in the "Open" input box, and Windows will start the text editing program to open the file (you can also directly open the file in the Windows installation directory). The specific content and meaning of each setting in this file are as follows (the default value is followed by "Windows98" and optional value in []):

1、backup=1[0]

Run the Registry Checker when you run Windows for the first time every day. 1 is allowed, 0 is prohibited.

2、Optimize=1[0]

Each time the registry checker is run, the registry files are automatically optimized and some expired or useless data is deleted. 1 is allowed, 0 is prohibited.

3、ScanregVersion=0.0001

Program version description.

4、MaxBackupCopies=5[1-99]

The maximum number of registry backup files created by the registry checker program. You can choose from 1-99 backups based on your actual usage. Of course, the more backups, the more storage space you need.

5、BackupDirectoryWindows98

The directory where the registry backup file is saved. When "Windows98" is empty, the system default backup directory "sysbckup" is used. If you want to change the directory where the registry backup file is saved, just type the full path of the backup directory after "BackupDirectory=", but you cannot use temporary directories such as "c:mpac".

6、Files=

Users need to add custom files to the registry backup file. When the registry checker creates a registry backup file, saves the four files "", "", "", "" and "" in a "cab" compressed file. If the user needs to add other important system configuration files to this compressed file, he can add it after "Files=". The added files must use the complete path and file name. If there are multiple files, the files are separated by commas. Such as: C:,C:.

When there is a problem with the user's registry, you must use the registry checker program under DOS to perform related repair operations on the registry.

After the user runs the program in DOS mode, he enters a graphical interface under DOS mode. The user can repair the registry and restore the backup registry files according to the prompts.

In addition, it can also be run with parameters. There are several more practical parameters in it:

1. Backup: Directly generate the registry backup file.

2. Restore: Select one of the backup registry files to restore.

3. Fix: Automatically fix errors in the registry.

It should be noted that it cannot run in safe mode of Windows 98.
